Congratulations on your engagement! We are delighted to know of your interest in a St. Paul/Summit wedding!
God has called St. Paul to help couples through their wedding to lay a foundation for a strong family life. So, there are several expectations that you need to know in advance, which will halep you make some important decisions about your wedding.
Our #1 aim is to help you grow in love of Jesus Christ and thefore we ask you to:
Worship with us until the wedding. St. Paul want to help you grow in the love of Jesus Christ!
Take our "Connect" class at St. Paul for Christian faith basics and what the mission and ministry at St. Paul are all about.
Do pre-marital counseling with a professional counselor or the pastor who will perform your wedding. St. Paul uses the Prepare-Enrich inventory and are part of the "Twogether in Texas" initiative. (When one or both of you live out of town, we will work with you to complete the "Connect" class and counseling in creative ways.)
Please make an appointment with the pastor who will be officiating at your wedding to discuss the pre-maritial process. You may also contact Judy Kieschnick to go over some basic guidelines regarding your wedding.
Your wedding ceremony will be a worship service which honors Christ and blesses your guests. To ensure this we ask that:
Readings be taken from the Bible.
Classical or contemporary music, vocal and insturmental, must have been composed for Christian worship.
St. Paul pastors are limited by the guidelines of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod to co-celebrate weddings ONLY with other LCMS pastors. Other ministers are welcome, in the role of a friend of the bride or groom, to come forward to read one or more Scripture readings.
There will be some fees charged for your wedding. We will gladly invest considerable time, human and financial resources into your wedding. We ask couples to help cover part of that cost. Call the office for the current listing.
One of the fees assessed will be for Wedding Coordinators. They will meet with you ahead of time to plan the logistics of your ceremony. Then, they will lead your rehearsal and facilitate details for the cermony itself. Experience has shown this to be a need even for small weddings. You will find the leadership provided to you by the Coordinators most helpful.
